A House of Measured Grandeur

Set on a tree-lined street in Greenwich, this residence balances heritage with everyday ease. Sunlight pours through tall mullioned windows, tracing the room’s plaster moldings and carved medallions. The design keeps what is timeless, pares away the rest, and lets warm wood and clear proportion do the talking.

The Parlor

The parlor restores ceremony without restraint. A gilded mirror crowns the mantle; a wrought brass chandelier lifts the eye to the ornate ceiling rose. Tailored seating in ivory anchors the room, contrasted by a black oval cocktail table and punctuated by curated antiques—clock, gramophone, small objets—that add history without heaviness. Layered drapery softens the light and quiets the palette.

Dining, Reimagined

Through pocket doors, the dining room continues the language of calm. A solid wood table is surrounded by upholstered chairs, some with playful fringe that introduces movement. The black-painted fireplace reads modern against paneled walls; a linen-shaded pendant washes the tabletop in an even glow. Underfoot, a patterned wool rug lends texture and warmth.

The Kitchen & Bar Wall

At the far end, the open kitchen keeps ornament disciplined. Chevron-milled wall panels frame a travertine niche with floating shelves; a marble worktop and burnished brass fixtures add a subtle gleam. The palette stays light—oak cabinetry, stone, soft whites—so the craftsmanship carries the room.

Passage & Stair

Along the stair, the chevron millwork turns the corridor into architecture. Gentle curves at the stringer ease the transition upward, while art and greenery offer moments of pause. The circulation reads as part of the home’s composition, not just what connects it.

Materials & Palette

  • Plaster & Millwork: restored crown, medallions, chevron wall panels

  • Stone: marble counters, travertine niche and hearth details

  • Metals: brushed and aged brass hardware & lighting

  • Textiles: linen drapery, wool rugs, tailored upholstery

  • Color: ivory and bone whites, honeyed oak, black accents, antique gold

Heritage, Lightly Held

Maple Row Residence proves that classical architecture need not feel formal. With proportion, light, and a restrained palette, the home welcomes daily life—gracious, relaxed, and quietly grand.
