Project Type: Private Loft Renovation
Client: Confidential
Design Studio: Ardenel Interiors
Completion: Winter 2025

In the heart of SoHo’s artistic district, Ardenel was commissioned to transform a spacious urban loft into a richly layered residence that blends sculptural design, bold materiality, and a refined sense of warmth. This project is a celebration of form, texture, and controlled drama—with a color palette grounded in deep browns, tactile blacks, and soft ambient lighting.

1. A Living Room Framed by Volume and Stillness

The main living area features a voluminous, tufted leather sofa in rich espresso brown, complemented by twin washi paper pendant lamps. Light is diffused softly, providing a warm halo that defines the space without overwhelming it. Every line and form is intentional—from the grounded, low-profile coffee table to the sculptural floor lamp that doubles as an art piece.

-Ardenel selected furnishings with substantial visual weight to balance the room’s tall ceilings, while still preserving a meditative atmosphere.

2. Sculptural Lighting & Conversation Pieces

Pendant and table lighting throughout the space play a critical role—not just in illumination, but in form. The spherical pendant above the dining area (inspired by kinetic balance structures) hangs like an installation. On the shelving, an organically shaped table lamp echoes the curvature of traditional Japanese lanterns with a modern twist.

3. Material Expression in the Dining & Bar Area

The open kitchen and dining area continues the narrative of restraint and richness. Cabinetry features dark-stained wood with swirling, almost geological grain. The dark cone-legged dining table anchors the room with an architectural presence, while the chairs—crafted in matte black steel and leather—feel like a Bauhaus homage reimagined for 2025.

Even the sink area becomes an aesthetic gesture: with a minimalist brushed steel faucet and curated ceramics as accent objects, the space becomes both functional and gallery-like.

4. Accent with Playfulness: The Unexpected Break

While the tone of the loft is sophisticated and moody, a bold note of color was introduced in the form of a sculptural bar table with a playful skirted stool in gradient orange fringe. It adds a sense of surprise—a reminder that luxury can be serious, but never boring.

This piece, custom-selected by Ardenel, serves as both a focal point and a moment of visual relief within the overall composition.

5. Refined Quietude in Every Corner

From minimalist art on the walls to soft-shadowed corners that frame sculptural vases and dry branches, every inch of this loft has been carefully composed to feel tactile and lived in. Lighting is never harsh; shadows are welcomed. This is Ardenel’s philosophy brought to life—quiet, considered, and immersive.

Conclusion: Drama Through Restraint

This Manhattan loft is a testament to how texture, tone, and proportion can evoke drama without noise. Ardenel worked closely with the client to craft an environment that feels private, artful, and enduringly modern. Every piece was chosen not to fill space, but to create presence.
